Year 1.

This post is a little belated, but Chris and I celebrated our first year of being officially hitched last weekend.  I can't believe it was a year ago that we promised to love each other forever.  It was the best day surrounded by the best friends and family in the world.  Here is a little photo recap of the big day for those of you that need a refresher...

For our blog followers that we have just become friends with, here is a brief recap of our lives together before dc.  Chris and I met in high school through mutual friends, but it wasn't until college that we realized we were meant to be together.  We started dating our Freshman year at K-State when Chris said "I don't know what they call it in college, but will you be my girlfriend?"  I obviously said YES (who could resist that pickup line?)  The next four years were perfect, filled with wonderful experiences and meeting some of our very best friends.  A few of the  friends we made there were some of the ones that stood up at the church with us when we said "I do".  They have always supported our relationship and we love them dearly.  The next two years I lived in KC and Chris was in Manhattan (Kansas that is.. for you east costers...) finishing his masters.  Those two years were tough, but we made it through by lots of trips to see each other.  On August 15, 2008, Chris asked me to be his wife.  It was the second best day of my life (see first paragraph for the BEST day of my life).  Now you are up to speed ;)
This pic is from our graduation dinner with both of our families.  Little did we know that two years later we would be husband and wife.

We celebrated our one year with gifts, a company bbq (romantic, I know), and a trip to McCormick and Schmick's.  Chris got me a spa day complete with a massage, pedi, and mani.  The perfect day of luxury.

I am so lucky to have the best husband and I know that the best it yet to come.

Top Ten Reasons Teachers LOVE Summer

I love teaching, but I really love summer too.  Here are some of the reasons that I love summer, and I think all my teachers friends can relate.

I love summer because...

10.  No one asks me what time lunch, recess, and the end of the day is.  Its been the same time since September, people.
9.  I no longer need to eat my lunch, run copies, and grade papers in under 20 minutes.
8.  I can go to the bathroom WHENEVER I need to :)
7.  No one cries.  Except maybe Ali on the bachelorette.
6.  No one has to hear me say "Let's see if we can get quiet by the time I count to 5..."
5.  I don't have to say "Let's see if we can get quiet by the time I count to 5..."
4.  There are no more pencil issues.  Any teacher will tell you that pencils are evil.  The really expensive electric pencil sharpener breaks by October, the wall mounted one never worked, and only two kids have the sharpener that their parents bought them in the beginning of the year.  I think I would have cried if one more kid would have told me they can't do their work because they don't have a pencil.
3.  I don't have to open my window because the air-conditioning is so cold that it is making my nose red.
2.  I don't have to spend my lunch (the student's recess) going over how to stay organized (with a few students that will remain nameless) only to see they need to stay in and re-organize the next week.
1.  I  don't have to smell the nasty smell that is "fish sticks for lunch" day.

These are just some of the funny/irritating things teachers go through.  It is great to have a break, but some how I am always ready and excited to go back to a whole new group of kids.
